On July 4, 2024, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 2859/TCT-TVQT to implement the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control.

Implementation of the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control in Vietnam

To implement Official Dispatch 1461/BVHTTDL-GD dated April 9, 2024, from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism regarding the guidance for the implementation of the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control according to the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control 2022; Decision 363/QD-TTg dated March 8, 2016, by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam approving the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control, simultaneously to enhance the awareness and responsibility of agencies, organizations, and individuals in domestic violence prevention, building a prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy Vietnamese family, the General Department of Taxation requests the Tax Departments of provinces and centrally-governed cities and the heads of units affiliated with and subordinate to the General Department of Taxation to direct and organize the implementation of the following contents:

- Implement Official Dispatch 1461/BVHTTDL-GD dated April 9, 2024, from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism regarding the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control with the communication theme: “End Violence, Nurture Love” ensuring appropriateness with the functions, tasks, and actual activities of the unit.

Media Messages and Slogans
- Respond to the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control;
- Preventing and combating domestic violence is the responsibility of the entire society;
- Investing in domestic violence prevention work is investing in sustainable development;
- Enhancing the role and responsibility of individuals, families, and communities in preventing domestic violence.
- Hindering the detection, reporting, or denunciation of domestic violence acts is a violation of the law.
- All acts of domestic violence must be detected, prevented and strictly handled.
- Violence is the main cause of divorces currently;
- Coercion to become pregnant, abort, or select the sex of a fetus is an act of domestic violence;
- Neglect and lack of care is an act of violence against the elderly;
- Domestic violence reduces the ability of children to learn and develop comprehensively.

- Organize the widespread dissemination and education of the contents of the National Action Month against domestic violence to officials, public employees, and workers of the units ensuring practicality and effectiveness.

The Tax Journal, the Portal of the General Department of Taxation, and the Provincial Tax Departments regularly publish news and articles on social security policies, the role of women, gender equality, and domestic violence prevention, along with protection against violence towards women and children. Propagating and responding to the prevention of domestic violence is the responsibility of the entire society.

- Implementation expenses: Units should balance and allocate within the state budget estimates (regular operating funds, funds for autonomous implementation) assigned for the year and other legitimate funding sources, ensuring the requirements are met, economically and effectively, and suitable to the actual conditions of each unit.

- Reporting time: Report the implementation results to the General Department of Taxation (via the Work Services Department) before July 20, 2024, to aggregate and report to the Ministry of Finance (Administrative and Non-Business Affairs Department).

**Previously, the Prime Minister issued Decision 363/QD-TTg dated March 8, 2016, approving the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control, designating June each year as the “National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control.”

The National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control in Vietnam focuses on the following main tasks:

- Inform, disseminate, and mobilize to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, and the entire society about domestic violence prevention to contribute to the protection of women and children, and building happy families.

- Commend and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in domestic violence prevention.
