Functions, Tasks, and Organizational Structure of the Department of Rehabilitation

The functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Rehabilitation Department under medical examination and treatment facilities are detailed by the Ministry of Health in Circular 46/2013/TT-BYT as follows:

First: Regarding functions:

- The Rehabilitation Department is a clinical unit under the medical examination and treatment facility, with the function of medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients.

Second: Regarding tasks:

- Conduct medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Department and other departments within the medical examination and treatment facility in the forms of inpatient, outpatient, and day rehabilitation.- Provide and guide the use of assistive devices for patients.- Counsel patients and their families on rehabilitation, psychology, education, and vocational orientation.

Third: Regarding the organizational structure of the Rehabilitation Department under the medical examination and treatment facility, it must have at least the following sections:

- Administration;- Physical therapy;- Inpatient treatment.

In addition to the aforementioned departments, the medical examination and treatment facility shall base on the scale of hospital beds and the requirements for rehabilitation activities of the facility to organize the Rehabilitation Department with one or more of the following sections:

- Occupational therapy;- Psychological therapy;- Speech therapy.
