From October 20, what are the requirements for the principal of a primary school in Vietnam?

This is a notable content in Resolution 09/2008/NQ-HDND promulgating the Charter of Primary Schools issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam on September 4, 2020.

From October 20, what are the requirements for the principal of a primary school in Vietnam? (Internet image)

The regulations issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulate the conditions for an individual to become a principal or vice-principal of a primary school in Vietnam as follows:

Conditions to become a primary school principal in Vietnam

- The person appointed as the principal for a public school or recognized as the principal for a private school must meet the standards prescribed in the Standards for Principals of General Education Institutions.

- Must meet the training standards for teachers as stipulated in the Education Law for the primary level;

- Must have taught for at least 05 years (or 04 years in mountainous, island, highland, remote, isolated areas, areas of ethnic minorities, areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions) at the primary level.

Conditions to become a primary school vice-principal in Vietnam

- The person appointed as the vice-principal for a public school or recognized as the vice-principal for a private school must meet the high standards of the Professional Standards for General Education Teachers;

- Must have the capacity to undertake tasks assigned by the principal;

- Must meet the training standards for teachers as stipulated in the Education Law for the primary level;

- Must have taught for at least 05 years (or 04 years in mountainous, island, highland, remote, isolated areas, areas of ethnic minorities, areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions) at the primary level.

Note: The tenure of the principal and vice-principal of a primary school is 05 years.

More details can be found in Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT which comes into effect in Vietnam from October 20, 2020.
