Decree 15/2006/ND-CP stipulates the establishment of Bac Ninh City, Bac Ninh Province, on the basis of the entire natural area, population, and subordinate administrative units of the district-level town Bac Ninh of Vietnam. To be specific:
Bac Ninh City has a natural area of 26.34 km2 and a population of 121,028, consisting of 10 subordinate administrative units including the wards: Dap Cau, Thi Cau, Vu Ninh, Suoi Hoa, Tien An, Ninh Xa, Ve An, Kinh Bac, Dai Phuc, and Vo Cuong commune.
The administrative boundaries of Bac Ninh City: to the north, it borders Viet Yen District, Bac Giang Province; to the east, it borders Que Vo District; to the south, it borders Tien Du District; to the west, it borders Yen Phong District, Bac Ninh Province of Vietnam.
Bac Ninh Province has 8 district-level administrative units, including the districts: Yen Phong, Tu Son, Tien Du, Que Vo, Thuan Thanh, Gia Binh, Luong Tai, and Bac Ninh City.
