From February 02, 2007, establishment of 02 communes under Moc Chau District, Son La Province in Vietnam

Recently, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 03/2007/ND-CP regarding the adjustment of commune-level administrative boundaries; establishment of communes and commune-level towns in Muong La, Thuan Chau, and Moc Chau districts of Son La province in Vietnam.

From February 02, 2007, establishment of 02 communes under Moc Chau District, Son La Province in Vietnam (Illustrative Image)

Decree 03/2007/ND-CP stipulates the establishment of 02 communes under Moc Chau district, Son La province in Vietnam as follows:

- Establishing Chieng Xuan commune under Moc Chau district on the basis of adjusting 8,695.5 hectares of natural area and 2,367 inhabitants of Xuan Nha commune. Chieng Xuan commune has 8,695.5 hectares of natural area and 2,367 inhabitants.

Administrative boundaries of Chieng Xuan commune: East borders Xuan Nha commune; West borders Chieng Son commune, Dong Sang commune; South borders Tan Xuan commune; North borders Dong Sang commune, Van Ho commune in Vietnam.

- Establishing Tan Xuan commune under Moc Chau district on the basis of adjusting 15,819.3 hectares of natural area and 3,417 inhabitants of Xuan Nha commune. Tan Xuan commune has 15,819.3 hectares of natural area and 3,417 inhabitants.

Administrative boundaries of Tan Xuan commune: East borders Cun Pheo commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, Trung Son commune, Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province; West borders the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Chieng Son commune, Moc Chau district; South borders Tam Chung commune, Trung Ly commune, Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province; North borders Xuan Nha commune, Chieng Xuan commune in Vietnam.

Thus, after adjusting the administrative boundaries, Xuan Nha commune remains with 9,336.2 hectares of natural area and 3,259 inhabitants. Moc Chau district has 205,529.87 hectares of natural area and 138,797 inhabitants, with 29 administrative units including the communes: Ta Lai, Van Ho, Quang Minh, Suoi Bang, Muong Te, Quy Huong, Tan Hop, Long Sap, Lien Hoa, Chieng Son, Hua Pang, Muong Men, Chieng Khoa, Chieng Hac, Tan Lap, To Mua, Muong Sang, Song Khua, Chieng Yen, Long Luong, Dong Sang, Chieng Khua, Phieng Luong, Na Muong, Xuan Nha, Tan Xuan, Chieng Xuan and commune-level town Moc Chau, commune-level town Nong Truong Moc Chau.
