Formula for Calculating Permissible Levels of Heavy Metals in Animal Feed

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Circular 27/2016/TT-BNNPTNT on July 26, 2016, providing guidelines on calculating permissible heavy metal content in animal feed.

Accordingly, Circular 27 stipulates the maximum allowable content of certain heavy metal elements in concentrated feed for pigs, chickens, quails, ducks, and geese is calculated using the following formula:

A = (B x 100)/C

Where:

- A is the maximum allowable content of a heavy metal element in concentrated feed (mg/kg or ppm);- B is the maximum allowable content of a heavy metal element in the corresponding complete mixed feed as stipulated in this Technical Regulation (mg/kg or ppm);- C is the maximum ratio of concentrated feed used for mixing (%) according to usage instructions published or indicated on the label.

See more details in Circular 27/2016/TT-BNNPTNT, effective from January 26, 2017.
