Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law 1985 consists of 8 Chapters and 36 Articles. One of the fundamental contents stipulated in this Law is the form and content of the arbitral award.
To be specific, according to the provisions of Article 31 of the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration 1985, the content and form of the award are as follows:
The award must be made in writing and signed by the arbitrator or arbitrators. In arbitration proceedings with more than one arbitrator, the signatures of the majority of the arbitrators on the arbitration panel are sufficient, provided that the reasons for any omitted signatures are stated.
Unless the parties have agreed that no reasons are to be given or the award is an award on agreed terms under Article 30, the award shall state the reasons upon which it is based.
The award shall state its date and the place of arbitration as determined in accordance with Article 20(1). The award shall be deemed to have been made at that place.
After the award is made, a copy signed by the arbitrators in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 31 of the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration 1985 shall be delivered to each party.
