Evaluation of the Composition of Dredged Material and Contaminant Concentrations

The evaluation of the characteristics, physical properties of dredged material, and the concentration of pollutants in the dredged material is conducted according to the provisions at Article 10 of Circular 28/2019/TT-BTNMT, specifically as follows:

- Evaluate and determine the grain size distribution of the dredged material by depth to the dredging depth; water content and solids in the dredged material; density of the dredged material.

- Conduct pollutant concentration analysis in the dredged material according to the provisions of Circular 24/2017/TT-BTNMT.

- Compare the analysis results of pollutant concentration in the dredged material with the pollutant concentration thresholds stipulated in Appendix 01 issued together with this Circular.

+ In case the pollutant concentration in the dredged material is lower than the thresholds stipulated in Appendix 01 issued together with this Circular, compile the results and include them in the content of the Dumping Project;

+ In case the pollutant concentration in the dredged material is higher than the thresholds stipulated in Appendix 01 issued together with this Circular and lower than the values stipulated in QCVN 43:2017/BTNMT on sediment quality promulgated according to Circular 78/2017/TT-BTNMT issued on December 29, 2017 by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (abbreviated as QCVN 43:2017/BTNMT), conduct tests to evaluate the potential for deposition, sedimentation of pollutants in the dredged material, and test the bioavailability levels of pollutants in the dredged material as stipulated in Article 11 of this Circular.
