The Government of Vietnam promulgates name in 2024, thereby scheduled to complete the Law on Employment (amended) and submit it to the National Assembly in October 2024.

On August 3, 2024, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution 118/ND-CP during the thematic meeting on law building in July 2024.
In Resolution 118/ND-CP of 2024, the Government of Vietnam highly appreciates the serious and proactive preparation of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs in constructing and completing the project dossier for the Revised Employment Law in compliance with the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents.
The Government of Vietnam assigns Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long to direct the completion of the Revised Employment Law project and present it to the National Assembly for review and opinion during the 8th session (October 2024).
Thus, according to Resolution 118/ND-CP of 2024, the Revised Employment Law project is expected to be completed and presented to the National Assembly in October 2024.
To complete the Revised Employment Law project, the Government of Vietnam requests the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam to undertake the following tasks:
- Continuously summarize, review, and evaluate to ensure the content of the Revised Employment Law draft is feasible and thoroughly addresses difficulties and obstacles encountered during the implementation of employment law regulations, ensuring consistency and synchronization with laws in related fields. It is particularly necessary to closely follow the policies, directions, and strategies of the Communist Party and the State regarding the flexible and modern development of human resources, meeting the domestic and global development requirements and trends, especially in the online environment, high-tech, and adapting to Vietnam's aging population rate;
- Effectively organize consultation activities, collecting opinions from affected subjects, experts, businesses, and grassroots organizations; simultaneously, implement suitable communication activities regarding new policies and contents impacting a large number of workers and enterprises to ensure the feasibility of the Revised Employment Law project and create social consensus from related entities, the public, organizations, and directly affected individuals;
- Lead and closely coordinate with related Ministries and agencies to research and thoroughly absorb the opinions of Government members to appropriately stipulate regulations, ensuring the legal basis and feasibility of labor registration and management regulations; support and create sustainable and reasonable employment for informal workers; preferential loan policies tied to conditions, processes, and procedures; expand the beneficiaries of loan support and those participating in unemployment insurance; the model of the National Employment Fund; regulations on working hours limits for students. The content of the Revised Employment Law draft must align with the policy groups approved by the Government; ensure maximum decentralization and delegation in state management; simplify and modernize administrative procedures; promote digital transformation; avoid creating discretionary mechanisms; and prevent corrupt and negative acts in labor and employment fields, enhancing the effectiveness of labor market supply-demand connection;
- Urgently absorb and fully explain the opinions of Government members and conclusions from the Government to complete the Revised Employment Law project dossier, ensuring its quality and progress.
