Regarding this issue, LawNet would like to answer as follows:

Establishments guiding the practice of medicine for specialized positions in Vietnam

Specifically, according to Article 5 of Decree 96/2023/ND-CP, the establishments guiding the practice of medicine for specialized positions are as follows:

(1) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of doctor:

- For medical doctors and preventive medicine doctors: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals;

- For traditional medicine doctors: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals and must have specialized activities in traditional medicine;

- For dentists: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals and must have specialized activities in dentistry.

(2) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of physician assistant:

- For general physician assistants: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals; general clinics; commune health stations (referred to as commune health stations);

- For traditional medicine physician assistants: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, general clinics, or commune health stations. These establishments must have specialized activities in traditional medicine.

(3) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of nurse: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals.

(4) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of midwife: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, maternity homes, or commune health stations, in which hospitals and commune health stations must have specialized activities in obstetrics.

(5) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of medical technician:

- Medical technicians with a professional scope in medical testing: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, clinics, or testing establishments. These establishments must have specialized activities appropriate to the practice of medical testing;

- Medical technicians with a professional scope in medical imaging: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, clinics, or diagnostic imaging establishments. These establishments must have specialized activities appropriate to the practice of medical imaging;

- Medical technicians with a professional scope in dental prosthetics: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, clinics, or dental prosthetics establishments. These establishments must have specialized activities appropriate to the practice of dental prosthetics;

- Medical technicians with a professional scope in optometry: medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, clinics, or optometry establishments that perform measurements and examinations of refractive errors. These establishments must have specialized activities appropriate to the practice of optometry;

- Medical technicians with a professional scope in functional restoration: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, clinics, or functional restoration establishments. These establishments must have specialized activities appropriate to the practice of functional restoration.

(6) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of clinical nutritionist: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals and have a specialized department in nutrition.

(7) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of peripheral emergency physician: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals, peripheral emergency establishments.

(8) Establishments guiding the practice for the position of clinical psychologist: Medical examination and treatment establishments are granted operating licenses in the form of hospitals or clinical psychology establishments, in which hospitals must have specialized activities in psychiatry or have a specialized department in clinical psychology.
