On April 2, 2007, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 52/2007/ND-CP regarding the adjustment of commune administrative boundaries; the establishment of communes, and the expansion of commune-level towns in the districts of Do Luong, Tuong Duong, Yen Thanh, Nghi Loc, Nghe An province in Vietnam.

Decree 52/2007/ND-CP adjusts the administrative boundaries of Giang Son Dong commune under Do Luong district, Nghe An province in Vietnam as follows:
- Establish Giang Son Dong commune under Do Luong district on the basis of adjusting 2,490.20 hectares of natural area and a population of 7,381 from Giang Son commune.
- Giang Son Dong commune has 2,490.20 hectares of natural area and a population of 7,381.
- Administrative boundaries of Giang Son Dong commune: East borders Tay Thanh commune and Thinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district; West borders Giang Son Tay commune, Do Luong district; South borders Hong Son commune, Do Luong district; North borders Ky Tan commune and commune-level town Lat, Tan Ky district.
Simultaneously, establish Giang Son Tay commune under Do Luong district on the basis of 1,724.71 hectares of natural area and a remaining population of 4,079 from Giang Son commune.
- Giang Son Tay commune has 1,724.71 hectares of natural area and a population of 4,079.
- Administrative boundaries of Giang Son Tay commune: North and East border Giang Son Dong commune, Do Luong district; West borders Tao Son commune, Anh Son district, Nghia Hanh commune, Ky Son commune and commune-level town Lat, Tan Ky district; South borders Hong Son commune, Boi Son commune and Lam Son commune, Do Luong district.
After adjustment, the administrative boundaries of Do Luong district will have 33 affiliated administrative units, including the communes: Giang Son Dong, Giang Son Tay, Hong Son, Bai Son, Lam Son, Ngoc Son, Boi Son, Trang Son, Nam Son, Bac Son, Dang Son, Luu Son, Dong Son, Yen Son, Van Son, Thinh Son, Hoa Son, Tan Son, Thai Son, Quang Son, Thuong Son, Hien Son, Tru Son, Dai Son, My Son, Nhan Son, Minh Son, Xuan Son, Lac Son, Trung Son, Thuan Son, Da Son and commune-level town Do Luong.
