On April 6, 2007, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 57/2007/ND-CP regarding the establishment of Chau Hung commune-level town under Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province in Vietnam.

Decree 57/2007/ND-CP adjusts the administrative boundaries of Chau Thoi commune to establish the commune-level town of Chau Hung under the Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province in Vietnam as follows:
- Establish the commune-level town of Chau Hung under Vinh Loi district based on the entire 3,155 hectares of natural area and 11,311 population of Chau Hung commune and adjusting 265.23 hectares of natural area and 1,438 population of Chau Thoi commune.
- Chau Hung town has a natural area of 3,420.23 hectares and a population of 12,749.
- Administrative boundaries of the commune-level town Chau Hung: East borders Hung Hoi commune and Hung Thanh commune of Vinh Loi district; West borders Chau Thoi commune and Long Thanh commune of Vinh Loi district; South borders Ward 7, district-level town Bac Lieu, and Hung Hoi commune of Vinh Loi district; North borders Chau Hung A commune of Vinh Loi district.
Therefore, after adjustment, the administrative boundaries of Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province in Vietnam are as follows:
- Chau Thoi commune remains with 4,273.77 hectares of natural area and a population of 14,493.
- Vinh Loi district consists of 8 administrative units, including the communes: Hung Hoi, Hung Thanh, Chau Hung A, Chau Thoi, Long Thanh, Vinh Hung, Vinh Hung A, and the commune-level town of Chau Hung.
