Equipment and Tools for Determining Dust Concentration by Gravimetric Method

The Ministry of Health recently signed and promulgated Circular 02/2019/TT-BYT issuing the national technical regulation on dust - Permissible exposure limits for 05 dust factors in the workplace.

To determine the total dust concentration by the gravimetric method, the following equipment and tools are required:

- Sampling pump: Flow rate of 18 liters/min or flow rate of 2 liters/min.- Sampling head: This is the part that collects dust and contains the filter paper.- Filter paper: One of the following filter papers can be used: fiberglass, PVC, Vinyl metricel, Teflon...- Support paper pad for holding the filter paper.- Rubber or nylon tube: Connects the sampling head to the suction pump. The rubber tube must be flexible, airtight, and have a uniform inner diameter.- Tripod stand to place the sampling head, adjustable in height and direction.- Flat-nose tweezers for picking up filter paper and the pad.- Oven with temperature control capability.- Analytical balance with a minimum accuracy of 0.01 mg.- Filter paper holder.- Sample storage boxes.- In case the suction pump does not come with a flow meter and timer, an external flow meter and timer are needed.- Sample weighing room with stable temperature and humidity.

See the testing procedure in Circular 02/2019/TT-BYT effective from September 22, 2019.
