Employment and Advancement Prospects After Graduation in Midwifery

On December 28, 2018, Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (BLDTBXH) stipulating the minimum volume of knowledge and requirements for competencies that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in health and social services fields was issued.

According to the Regulations on the minimum required knowledge volume and competency requirements for learners graduating at the intermediate and college levels in the nursing and midwifery professions, issued alongside Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that after graduating from the intermediate level in the midwifery profession, learners have the competency to meet the requirements for the following job positions in the profession:

- Reproductive health care, abortion services, and family planning;

- Care for mothers during pregnancy;

- Care for mothers during labor and delivery;

- Postpartum care for mothers;

- Neonatal care for newborns.

Additionally, there are provisions regarding the potential for further education and advancement for those graduating from the intermediate level in the midwifery profession, as follows:

- The minimum required knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduating from the intermediate level in the midwifery profession can continue to be developed at higher levels;

- Graduates have the capacity for self-study, self-updating scientific and technological advancements in the field to enhance their qualifications or pursue continuous education to higher levels within the same profession, related professions, or within the same training field.
