The Ministry of Transport issued Circular 49/2017/TT-BGTVT on December 15, 2017, detailing the steps for editing contour maps when creating depth contour maps using depth measurement devices.
Accordingly, Circular 49 stipulates that when compiling a topographic map using a depth measurement device, the following steps must be taken:
- First, determine the number of sheets, the size of each sheet, and the title of the topographic map;- Construct the mathematical basis for the depth topographic map: the map frame, coordinate grid, and map scale;- Compile existing objects from the collected maps and hydrographic charts within the survey area;- Transfer the measured depth data onto the map using specialized mapping and digitization software;- Process the depth data and draw contour lines;- Transfer specialized elements and objects onto the map: navigational channel limits, water areas, seaports, anchorage areas, transshipment areas, storm shelters, animal quarantine areas, inland waterway signaling systems;- Edit the annotations;- Finally, draw the map using specialized survey software (or other software with similar features), ensuring accuracy as per the regulations.
See details in Circular 49/2017/TT-BGTVT, effective from February 15, 2018.
