Duties of MOET Regarding Textbooks, Curricula, and Materials

The Ministry of Education and Training is an agency of the Government of Vietnam, performing the function of state management over educational institutions. The tasks and authority of the Ministry of Education and Training in state management of textbooks, curricula, and materials are stipulated as follows:

1. Regulations on the compilation, appraisal, and approval of permissible materials; guidelines for selecting materials in preschool educational institutions;

2. Regulations on standards and procedures for compiling and revising textbooks; regulations on duties, powers, operating methods, standards, quantity, and structure of members of the National Textbook Appraisal Council; issuing criteria for evaluating textbooks and approving textbooks for use based on the appraisal results of the National Textbook Appraisal Council; guidelines for selecting textbooks in general educational institutions;

3. Regulations on the organization of compiling, selecting, appraising, approving, and using teaching materials, training curricula for intermediate pedagogical, college pedagogical, university, master's, and doctoral levels; organizing the compilation of curricula for political theory, defense, and security subjects to be used uniformly in teaching and learning at the intermediate pedagogical, college pedagogical, university, master's, and doctoral levels;

4. Directing the organization of compiling materials for literacy eradication, continuing education after literacy, and other regular educational materials.
