Duties of Inspectors Performing Inspection Work for Categories I, II, III

Circular 49/2015/TT-BGTVT stipulates the duties of Inspectors performing inspection work of Category I, II, III as follows:

Inspectors performing inspection work of Category III:

- Inspect new constructions, first-time, periodic, on-slipway, annual, irregular visitations and evaluate the technical condition of the vehicle during inspections;- Measure, determine the tonnage, volume, and freeboard of the vehicle;- Copy and appraise the sample design;- Validate the completion design documentation for newly constructed, altered, and restored vehicles;- Create and issue inspection records for inspected subjects;- Calculate inspection fees and charges for inspected subjects according to regulations;- Provide professional practice guidance for trainee inspectors of the corresponding category;- Perform other tasks as assigned by unit leadership.

Inspectors performing inspection work of Category II: Besides carrying out the above duties of Category III Inspectors, Category II Inspectors also have the following responsibilities:

- Inspect and certify the quality of industrial products used in new constructions, alterations, and installations on vehicles;- Conduct technical assessments and participate in accident investigations for inland waterway vehicles within the scope of their duties as required by the competent authorities;- Participate in professional training for Category III and Category II Inspectors when requested;- Assess the actual practical ability of Category III Inspectors.

Inspectors performing inspection work of Category I: Besides carrying out the above duties of Category II Inspectors, Category I Inspectors also have the following responsibilities:

- Participate in professional training for Category II and Category I Inspectors when requested;- Assess the actual practical ability of Category II Inspectors;- Engage in scientific research and advise unit leadership on technical and inspection professional matters.
