Duties and Powers of Laboratory Physicians in the Department of Microbiology

The Ministry of Health issued Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT on September 19, 2016, detailing the duties and powers of microbiological testing doctors.

Circular 33 stipulates that laboratory doctors are responsible to the Head of the Department for the tasks assigned and have the following duties and powers:

- Perform the professional work of a laboratory doctor within the scope of professional activities.- Conduct assigned tests according to the microbiological technical procedures implemented at the hospital.- Review and sign off on test results as assigned by the Head of the Department.- Periodically calibrate techniques within the assigned scope.- Directly teach and guide practical training for students who come to the department for studies and provide professional training for technicians and public employees in the department as assigned.- Participate in scientific research, disseminate scientific information on microbiology as assigned by the Head of the Department or the Hospital Director.- Participate in duties according to the schedule assigned by the Head of the Department.- Participate in consultations with clinical departments and mortality reviews when required.- Participate in directing and supporting technical operations for lower-level units as assigned to implement appropriate tests.- Strictly adhere to regulations on hygiene and labor protection.- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of the Department.
