On December 20, 2008, the People's Council of Nghe An Province issued Resolution 244/2008/NQ-HDND approving the master plan for socio-economic development of the coastal and marine areas of Nghe An Province, Vietnam until 2020.
Development of salt production and agriculture in Nghe An, Vietnam in accordance with new Orientations (Internet image)
Resolution 244/2008/NQ-HDND directs the development of agricultural and salt production in Nghe An, Vietnam until 2020 as follows:
- Review, adjust, and supplement the planning of salt production areas, clearly identifying production areas for industry and consumption. Integrate salt raw material production tightly with processing facilities.
- Complete infrastructure investment for high intensive farming in salt production areas.
Transform the agricultural structure towards rapidly increasing the proportion of livestock farming; focusing on the development of high economic value crops and livestock; effectively utilizing agricultural land.
- Crop Development: Strongly transform crop structure, carry out detailed planning towards concentrated commercial production. Continue developing food crops (rice, corn) with high intensive farming, quickly introducing high-yield, quality varieties into production; convert areas without irrigation control from rice to more effective crops. Continue investing in irrigation and field improvement to develop and enhance the efficiency of concentrated peanut production areas. Expand the area for sesame cultivation on peanut farmland alongside investment in intensive farming. Allocate 70-80% of the area for food crop cultivation in the city perimeter, urban areas, and coastal plain communes to grow clean and high-quality vegetables serving urban and industrial zones, and tourism areas. Invest intensively and apply high technology to produce flowers and ornamental plants to meet the consumption needs of urban areas in the province.
- Livestock Development: Strongly develop pig and poultry farming, towards concentrated and industrial models; develop meat and dairy cattle farming in the form of farms at household levels.
- Service Development: Continue improving irrigation services; effectively forecast pests and diseases for plants and animals to have effective prevention measures. Rapidly introduce scientific and technical advances into agricultural production.
