Details about the content of the recruitment exam for the General Department of Taxation in 2024 

On April 26, 2024, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam issued Notification 365/TB-TCT regarding the recruitment plan for the General Department of Taxation in 2024.

The recruitment of officials for the General Department of Taxation in 2024 will be conducted through an examination.

According to the regulations in Article 8 of Decree 138/2020/ND-CP, the official recruitment exam will be conducted in two rounds with the following content:

(1) Round 1: Examination of general knowledge and competencies

- Examination format: Computer-based multiple-choice test.

- Examination content and duration: consisting of 2 parts.

Part I: General knowledge (60 questions, 60 minutes) about the political system, organizational structure of the Party and State, political and social organizations; state administrative management; officials, public service; Party's guidelines and policies, State's legal policies related to recruitment sectors; duties and responsibilities of officials according to the requirements of the applied positions.

Part II: Foreign language, specifically the English language (30 questions, 30 minutes) based on the Vietnamese foreign language proficiency framework:

+ Level 3 for the positions of Specialist in professional expertise, Specialist in Information Technology, and Specialist in Party work;

+ Level 2 for the position of Tax Inspector.

The results of the first round will be determined based on the number of correct answers for each part of the examination. If the candidate correctly answers at least 50% of the questions in each part, they will proceed to the second round.

* Exemption from the foreign language examination for the following cases:

- Having a foreign language degree with the same level of training or at a higher level than the professional and vocational training required for the applied positions;

- Having a foreign education institution-issued degree recognized in Vietnam with a higher level of training than the professional and vocational training required for the applied positions;

- Having a certificate of a minority ethnic language or being a member of a minority ethnic group, in the case of applying for a civil service position in areas inhabited by minority ethnic groups, including the Tax Department of the following provinces: Cao Bang, Bac Kan, and Lai Chau.

The results of the first round will be determined based on the number of correct answers for each part of the examination. If the candidate correctly answers at least 50% of the questions in each part, they will proceed to the second round.

There will be no review of the results of the computer-based first-round examination.

(2) Round 2: Examination of professional expertise in the specific field

- Examination format: written examination in the specific field of expertise.

- Examination duration: 180 minutes

- Examination content:

+ Candidates applying for positions such as Specialist in professional expertise, Tax Inspector, and Intermediate Tax Inspector: Knowledge of taxation (Value Added Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Personal Income Tax) and Law on Tax Administration.

+ Candidates applying for the position of Specialist in information technology: Knowledge of information technology (computer technology; computer science; software engineering - computer networks and communications); Knowledge of Window operating system; Knowledge of Database management; Use of Office 2010 applications (mainly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word).

+ Candidates applying for the position of Specialist in Party work: Party work, party committee office; training, fostering, and developing the Party.

+ Candidates applying for positions such as Librarian, Intermediate Librarian: Knowledge of archival studies and office management, administrative correspondence, archival studies - records management.
