Professional soldiers, defense workers, and public defense employees are entitled to rest according to the provisions of the Labor Code and the regulations of the Minister of National Defense.
- Below 15 years of service: 20 days of leave;- From 15 years to below 25 years of service: 25 days of leave;- From 25 years of service and above: 30 days of leave.
Moreover, professional soldiers, defense workers, and public employees stationed far from their families are entitled to additional leave:
- Additional 10 days: When stationed 500 km or more away from their family or on islands in the Spratly Archipelago, DK;- Additional 5 days: When stationed 300 km to less than 500 km from their family; stationed in remote, isolated, border areas 200 km to less than 300 km away from their family and receiving area allowances with coefficients from 0.5 to 0.7 or on islands receiving area allowances with coefficients from 0.1 to less than 1.0;- If desired, they can combine the number of days of leave of two years to take leave once.
Professional soldiers, defense workers, and public employees on annual leave are also entitled to the reimbursement of travel expenses, transport allowances according to current policies; travel time is not counted in the number of annual leave days as prescribed above.
In cases where professional soldiers, defense workers, and public employees cannot be arranged for annual leave due to mission requirements, they shall be entitled to policies according to Clause 1, Article 38 of the Professional Soldiers, Defense Workers, and Public Employees Law 2015.
In addition to annual leave, professional soldiers, defense workers, and public employees are also entitled to rest policies such as: weekly rest; special leave; holidays, Tet; convalescence, recuperation; pre-retirement leave; sick leave, maternity policies.
Note: When there is a mobilization order, during wartime and in a state of national defense emergency, the Minister of Defense can issue a suspension order of rest policies; professional soldiers, defense workers, and public employees on leave must return to their units.
