This is a notable content stipulated in Decree 159/2017/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam issuing the Preferential Import Tariff Schedule of Vietnam to implement the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement for the period of 2018 - 2022.
To be specific:, promulgated with Decree 159/2017/ND-CP, the Preferential Import Tariff Schedule of Vietnam to implement the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement for the period 2018 - 2022 (the preferential import tariff rates applied hereinafter referred to as AIFTA rates). - The notes and general rules explaining the classification of goods are implemented according to the Vietnam Export and Import Goods List based on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of the World Customs Organization.- The column "Commodity Code" and the column "Description of Goods" are constructed based on the Vietnam Export and Import Goods List and detailed at the 8-digit or 10-digit code levels.- The column "AIFTA Rate (%)": The rates apply for different periods, including:
- January 01, 2018 - December 30, 2018: The rate applies from January 01, 2018 to the end of December 30, 2018;- December 31, 2018 - December 31, 2019: The rate applies from December 31, 2018 to the end of December 31, 2019;- January 01, 2020 - December 31, 2020: The rate applies from January 01, 2020 to the end of December 31, 2020;- January 01, 2021 - December 30, 2021: The rate applies from January 01, 2021 to the end of December 30, 2021;- December 31, 2021 - December 30, 2022: The rate applies from December 31, 2021 to the end of December 30, 2022.
- The symbol "*": Imported goods are not eligible for AIFTA rates at the corresponding time.
Particularly, for imported goods subject to tariff quotas, the preferential import tariff rates applied to the quantity of goods imported within the quota are detailed in the Preferential Import Tariff Schedule of Vietnam to implement the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement for the period 2018 - 2022 promulgated with this Decree. The import tariff rates outside the quota apply according to the regulations of the Government of Vietnam at the time of import. The annual import quota amounts are stipulated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Imported goods are eligible for AIFTA rates if they meet the conditions specified in Article 4 of Decree 159/2017/ND-CP.
