Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 125/2015/ND-CP detailing regulations on the management of flight operations.
At Article 4 of Decree 125/2015/ND-CP stipulating the organization of the Vietnamese airspace serving civil aviation activities includes:

- Civil airport airspace, joint-use airport airspace;- Air routes;- Flight areas, airways serving general aviation activities;- Areas for fuel dumping, baggage and cargo dropping for civil aircraft;- Parts of international sea flight information regions managed by Vietnam;- Areas of responsibility for managing and operating flights.
The organization of airspace serving other activities includes:
- Military airport airspace, military activity zones, airways;- No-fly zones;- Restricted flight zones;- Danger zones;- Areas of responsibility for combat readiness of Air Force Divisions.
Furthermore, the Decree stipulates that air routes include international air routes and domestic air routes, established based on:
- The demand for international aviation exchange;- The requirements of domestic flight operations;- The requisites and capabilities for providing aviation operation assurance services, ensuring aviation security and safety;- The requisites and capabilities for managing and protecting the airspace; ensuring national defense and security.
Conforming to the development plan of the Vietnamese civil aviation sector and the air transport plan of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Wherein, domestic air routes are designated by the letters H, J, Q, T, V, Y, Z, W and numbered using Arabic numerals. International air routes are designated by the letters A, B, G, L, M, N, P, R and numbered using Arabic numerals.
