The Lunar New Year 2025 holiday schedule is regulated in Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH of 2025 as follows:
- Officials and public employees and employees in administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and social-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as officials and public employees) will have a break during the 2025 Lunar New Year from Saturday, January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) to the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake). This break includes 05 days of the Lunar New Year holiday and 04 weekly days off.
- Agencies and units implementing the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2025 should arrange and ensure on-duty personnel according to regulations and work reasonably to resolve work continuously, ensuring good service to organizations and the public. Attention should be given to assigning officials on duty to handle sudden and unexpected jobs that may occur during the Tet holiday, as per regulations.
- Agencies, units, and localities should have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations, and individuals to actively and proactively conduct production, business, economic, and social activities. This ensures a stable supply and demand of goods, services, prices, and markets, contributing to promoting production, business growth, practicing savings, preventing waste, striving for the successful implementation of the objectives and tasks of the 2025 plan, which is a year of acceleration and breakthrough in the implementation of the 5-year plan 2021 - 2025, creating a solid foundation and premise for fast and sustainable development in the future.
- Agencies and units that do not follow a fixed Saturday and Sunday weekend schedule will base their vacation schedule on their specific programs and plans, in conformity with the law.
- For those not covered by the above provisions, employers will decide on the Lunar New Year holiday 2025 plan as follows:
+ For the Lunar New Year: selecting 01 day at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 04 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake, or 02 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 03 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake, or 03 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 02 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
+ Notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday plan for 2025 at least 30 days in advance.
+ If the weekly day off coincides with a holiday prescribed in clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees are entitled to compensatory time off on the next working day in accordance with clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
+ Employers are encouraged to apply the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2025 for employees as regulated for officials and public employees.
Thus, the first workday after the Lunar New Year 2025 for officials and public employees and employees in administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and social-political organizations is February 3, 2025 (Monday).
For employees in the private sector, the first workday will be decided by the employer based on the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday plan.
