Daily Allowance for Reservists Effective from August 21, 2020

Recently, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 79/2020/ND-CP stipulating policies in constructing and mobilizing reserve forces.

According to Decree 79/2020/ND-CP, "Reserve soldiers during the period of concentrated training (training, reclassification, regrading, supplemental), drills, readiness inspection for mobilization, combat readiness and mobilization when not yet reaching the level of full mobilization or partial mobilization; cadets training for reserve officers" who are not engaged in labor, studying, working in agencies, organizations, and receiving salary from the state budget, are entitled to an allowance per workday as stipulated in point b clause 1 Article 30 of the Law on Mobilization Reserve Forces (referred to as the Law) and it is implemented as follows:

Firstly, for reserve officers, reserve professional soldiers, the daily allowance is calculated by dividing the current monthly basic salary of active-duty officers with the same rank or active professional soldiers with the same salary grade by 26 days.

Secondly, for non-commissioned officers, reserve soldiers, the daily allowance is calculated based on the rank allowance of active-duty non-commissioned officers, soldiers with the same rank (excluding rank allowance due to extended service period). If the concentrated period is from 5 to 15 days, they receive half a month's allowance; if concentrated from 16 to 31 days, they receive a full month's allowance; if concentrated for more than 31 days, the allowance continues as per the initial regulation.

Moreover, those subjects mentioned above, when suffering from illness, accidents and going for medical examination, treatment, receive daily allowance for the period of medical examination, treatment but not exceeding the concentrated training, drills, readiness inspection for mobilization, combat readiness, and mobilization period.

The unit directly organizing the training, drills, readiness inspection for mobilization, combat readiness, and mobilization will handle the policy payments for these subjects.
