To be specific, implementing the Official Telegram 43/CD-BGDDT from the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the prevention and control of the acute respiratory disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, and the Official Dispatch 293/UBND-KGVX from the People's Committee of Hanoi regarding the enhancement of measures to prevent and control pneumonia caused by viral infection, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has issued an Official Dispatch requesting educational institutions to intensify propaganda and education for students, teachers, officials, and school staff about the causes, consequences, and preventive measures against the acute respiratory disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus.
In addition, educational institutions must guide students, teachers, officials, and school staff to avoid markets selling fresh food, crowded places; eat well-cooked food, drink boiled water; avoid contact with animals and animal waste; limit direct contact with people with acute respiratory infections; if necessary, use medical masks properly and maintain distance when contacting infected people; keep warm, maintain personal hygiene, wash hands regularly with soap, and gargle with antiseptic mouthwash to prevent pneumonia; cover the mouth and nose when sneezing, preferably with a cloth or handkerchief to reduce the spread of respiratory secretions.
Daily tracking of attendance and health condition changes of students and teachers at schools is required, early detection of disease cases, or suspected cases; all cases of fever must take time off school, work and go to medical facilities for examination, treatment, and inform the school of the conclusion from health authorities.
If an outbreak occurs at schools, absolute secrecy of the outbreak is not allowed, it must be reported immediately to the higher management agencies and cooperate with local health authorities to monitor and handle the outbreak according to regulations.
Moreover, educational institutions must vigorously carry out sanitation activities to prevent diseases at educational facilities and schools; ensure food safety in collective kitchens, provide sufficient drinking water and clean water for children, students, teachers, officials, and school staff, regularly maintain environmental hygiene, and sanitize classrooms.
Note, this is an acute infectious disease caused by a novel strain of coronavirus, with no specific treatment or preventive vaccine available. The disease is transmitted from person to person through close contact or saliva. To date, cases have been recorded in Vietnam and several other countries.
