Content of general sanitary examination of water sources when using river water in Vietnam (Illustrative image)
Circular 15/2006/TT-BYT stipulates the general sanitary examination of raw water sources for water plants, water supply stations using river water in Vietnam:
- Inspection limits: Within a radius of 200m from the water intake point upstream, 100m from the water intake point downstream, and 100m on both sides of the riverbank from the highest water level (according to Vietnamese Standard TCXD-33: 1995).
- Inspection content:
- Protective area limit signage;
- Trash blocking equipment;
- Construction works (including those of the water plant);
- Sewer pipes, canals, ditches discharging into the river;
- Ferries, ferry landings, or boats anchored on the river;
- Bathing, laundry, production, resource exploitation activities by humans;
- Aquaculture activities;
- Livestock, poultry or other domestic animals bathing or drinking water;- Garbage, human waste, livestock manure, animal carcasses.
- Evaluation method: According to the risk scoring method specified in Appendix 1 issued with this Circular.
