Content and Format of the Examination for Promotion from Class III to Class II Teacher Professional Titles

1. General Knowledge Exam

- Exam format:

The head of the competent authority organizing the rank promotion exam decides to choose one of the following three forms: Essay, Multiple-choice, or a combination of both Essay and Multiple-choice.

- Exam duration: Essay exam 120 minutes, Multiple-choice exam 45 minutes, combined Essay and Multiple-choice exam 90 minutes.

- Exam content: Assess the knowledge and understanding of teachers about the Public Employee Law, specialized legal provisions, perspectives, directives, and instructions from the Sector regarding the current teaching level. Apply the knowledge and understanding of the aforementioned issues to propose solutions for real-world problems at the respective teaching level in line with the standards of the rank II teacher professional title.

The knowledge volume of the exam and content about public employee law accounts for 30%, while the field of education and training accounts for 70%.

2. Specialized, Professional Exam

- Exam format:

The head of the competent authority organizing the rank promotion exam decides to choose one of the following two forms: Oral or Multiple-choice.

- Exam duration: Multiple-choice exam 45 minutes, Oral exam 30 minutes (maximum 20 minutes of preparation, maximum 10 minutes of oral presentation per candidate).

- Exam content: Assess the candidate's understanding of the duties of a rank II teacher; the professional and specialized competency level of the candidate as per the requirements of the rank II teacher professional title standards; the capability to propose solutions to issues arising in the practical execution of a rank II teacher's duties associated with the requirements of the rank II teacher professional title standards and the current educational context at the local teaching level.

3. Foreign Language Exam

- Exam format: Multiple-choice

- Exam duration: 45 minutes

- Exam content: Assess reading comprehension and writing skills of the candidate at the level 2 foreign language proficiency as stipulated in Circular 01/2014/TT-BGDDT.

- Exam languages: Candidates register to take the exam in one of the following languages: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.

For teachers who teach one of the aforementioned languages, they must take a second foreign language exam at level 2 proficiency as stipulated in Circular 01/2014/TT-BGDDT.

4. Informatics Exam

- Exam format:

The head of the competent authority organizing the rank promotion exam decides to choose one of the following two forms: Multiple-choice or practical on a computer.

- Exam duration: 45 minutes

- Exam content: Basic information technology skills as stipulated by the standards for the rank II teacher professional title.
