Conditions for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art in Vietnam (Internet image) 

On April 4, 2024, the Government issued Decree 36/2024/ND-CP) detailing the conditions for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art.

Subjects eligible for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in Vietnam

Authors or co-authors (referred to as authors) who are Vietnamese citizens or foreigners with works, collections of works, projects, or collections of projects in literature and art that meet the prescribed conditions and standards, and belong to the following fields are eligible for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" or "State Prize" in literature and art:

- Music: Works in various genres of music, theoretical and critical research on music;

- Film: Films of various types as regulated in the Law on Cinematography 2022, theoretical and critical research on film, screenplays adapted into films and released;

- Architecture: Constructed architectural works, theoretical and critical research on architecture, approved urban planning projects;

- Dance: Dance performances in various forms, theoretical and critical research on dance, choreographed and performed dance scripts;

- Fine arts: Works in various forms of fine arts, theoretical and critical research on fine arts;

- Photography: Works in various forms of photography, theoretical and critical research on photography;

- Theater: Theater performances in various forms, theoretical and critical research on theater, scripts adapted into theater performances and performed;

- Literature: Works in various genres of literature, theoretical and critical research on literature;

- Folk arts: Works in various genres of folk arts, theoretical and critical research on folk arts.

Principles for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art in Vietnam

- Implementing the regulations in points a, b, and c of Article 2, Article 5 of the Law on Emulation and commendation 2022

- Authors can only propose their works in literature and art for consideration for awarding in one specific field of literature and art.

- If an author's work in literature and art has already been awarded the "State Prize" in literature and art, it cannot be combined with other works in literature and art to propose consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" in literature and art.

- Councils at all levels are only authorized to submit cases that meet the conditions, standards, procedures, and documentation as regulated to the higher-level authorities for consideration.

Conditions for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art in Vietnam

- Authors with works in literature and art proposed for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art must be loyal to the country, abide by the Party's guidelines, policies, and the laws of the State.

- Foreign authors with works in literature and art, and research on Vietnam proposed for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art must respect Vietnam's independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, laws, and good customs and practices.

- Works in literature and art proposed for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and "State Prize" in literature and art must meet the following conditions:

+ They have been published or used in various forms of publication, architecture, exhibition, theater, film, broadcasting, television, teaching, or recorded audio since September 2, 1945. The minimum time for works in literature and art to be published or used is 5 years for the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" and 3 years for the "State Prize," counted until the submission of the application for consideration for awarding the "Ho Chi Minh Prize" or "State Prize" in literature and art to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism or the Department of Culture and Sports or the Central Literary and Artistic Association;

+ There are no disputes regarding copyrights from the time of publication, use or any disputes that have been resolved by the competent authorities at the time of submission for consideration.
