This is a notable regulation mentioned in Circular 47/2018/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health, which stipulates the application of conditions regarding diplomas, certificates, practice certificates, and professional practices for granting traditional medicine practice certificates.
Based on Article 3 of Circular 47/2018/TT-BYT, individuals with a certificate as a traditional medicine practitioner must practice before being issued a practicing certificate as stipulated in Clauses 2 and 3 of this Article.
However, individuals with certificates as stipulated in Clauses 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Article 2 of this Circular, who have been granted a practicing license by the Department of Health, are not required to practice when applying for a pharmaceutical practicing certificate.

This Circular stipulates the practice duration for individuals with a certificate as a traditional medicine practitioner as follows:
- The practice duration for the person responsible for the professional activities of a traditional medicine wholesale or retail establishment is 1 year;- The practice duration for the person responsible for the professional activities of a medicinal herb wholesale or retail establishment is 6 months;- The practice duration for the person responsible for professional activities related to pharmaceuticals or in charge of quality assurance at a household business or cooperative producing medicinal herbs is 1 year.
Regarding the practice content and practice facilities for individuals with a certificate as a traditional medicine practitioner, the following are stipulated:
- The person responsible for the professional pharmaceutical activities of a medicinal herb or traditional medicine wholesale establishment, and the person responsible for pharmaceutical professional activities or in charge of quality assurance at a household business or cooperative producing medicinal herbs must practice as stipulated in Articles 19 and 20 of Decree 54/2017/ND-CP dated May 8, 2017, issued by the Government of Vietnam, guiding the implementation of some articles and measures of the Pharmaceutical Law;- The person responsible for the professional activities of a retail establishment for medicinal herbs and traditional medicines must practice professional activities related to traditional medicine at the pharmaceutical department of a traditional medicine treatment or business establishment.
