Circular 46/2016/TT-BLDTBXH: Principles of Naming Colleges

Circular No. 46/2016/TT-BLDTBXH was issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on December 28, 2016, specifically listing the principles to be followed when naming colleges.

Circular 46 stipulates that the Vietnamese name of a college consists of the following components:

- Phrase identifying the type of school: College, Community College;- Phrase identifying the type, field, or main group of training disciplines (if needed);- Phrase identifying the proper name: Local name, cultural celebrity name, historical celebrity name, individual name, organization name;- Phrase identifying quality, rank (if needed).

The school name must not duplicate the name of any previously established college.

Additionally, Circular 46 stipulates that the international trade name of the school must accurately reflect its Vietnamese name and must not be confused with the name of any other school.

Note, the Vietnamese name of the school must be recorded in the establishment or permission for establishment decision, the seal, documents, transaction papers of the school, and must be displayed at the school's main headquarters or branches.
