Circular 31: Milk products used in the School Milk Program in Vietnam must contain 21 essential nutrients

The Minister of Health (Hanoi, Vietnam) has just signed and issued Circular 31/2019/TT-BYT, stipulating the requirements for fresh milk products used in the School Milk Program in Vietnam.

The fresh milk products used in the School Milk Program in Vietnam include pasteurized whole fresh milk and pasteurized fresh milk that comply with the regulations of the National Technical Regulation for liquid milk products stipulated in QCVN 5-1:2010/BYT, issued together with Circular 30/2010/TT-BYT dated June 02, 2010, by the Minister of Health, and the requirements set forth in Article 4 and Article 5 of Circular 31/2019/TT-BYT.

The fresh milk products used in the School Milk Program must ensure they contain 21 essential nutrients with the following amounts:

7 Vitamin B1 95.0 µg - 125.0 µg
8 Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 79.1 µg
9 Vitamin B3 (Niacin-PP) 1.0 mg - 1.4 mg
10 Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) 300 µg - 400 µg
11 Vitamin B6 79.1 µg - 104.1 µg
12 Vitamin B7 (Biotin) 1.3 µg
13 Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) 27.5 µg - 37.5 µg
14 Vitamin B12 0.19 µg - 0.3 µg
15 Vitamin K1 2.5 µg - 3.3 µg
16 Zinc 1.1 mg - 1.6 mg

Note: (a) No maximum threshold is given as the levels of Vitamin B2, Biotin are naturally high in milk, and Iodine content varies seasonally.

The raw materials for the fresh milk products used in the School Milk Program must comply with the National Technical Regulation on raw fresh milk issued together with Circular 29/2017/TT-BNNPTNT dated December 29, 2017, by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (Hanoi, Vietnam).
