Circular 19: Retention Schedule for Specialized Records and Documents in Science and Technology

This is the important content in Circular 19/2019/TT-BKHCN on the retention period for specialized science and technology records and documents.

According to regulations, the preservation period table for specialized science and technology records and documents is a list of record groups with indications of their preservation duration. The preservation period table for specialized science and technology records and documents issued together with Circular 19/2019/TT-BKHCN applies to the following 07 groups of records and documents:

Group 1. Science and technology management records and documents;

Group 2. Science and technology task management records and documents;

Group 3. Scientific research records and documents;

Group 4. Technology development records and documents;

Group 5. Intellectual property records and documents;

Group 6. Standards, measurement, and quality records and documents;

Group 7: Radiation safety, nuclear, and atomic energy records and documents.

Additionally, this circular stipulates the preservation period for specialized science and technology records and documents in two levels as follows:

- Permanent preservation: records and documents at this level are preserved at the Agency Archives and then selected for submission to the Historical Archives when due, as prescribed by archival legislation.

- Temporary preservation: records and documents at this level are identified by specific years and preserved at the Agency Archives. When the preservation period expires, they are listed for submission to the Agency's Document Value Review Council to decide whether to continue preservation or discard and destroy.

* Records and documents with a determined preservation period range from 05 years to 70 years
