This content is detailed in Circular No. 08/2013/TT-BTNMT issued by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Vietnam, prescribing procedures for issuance and revocation of certificate of biosafety of genetically modified plants.
According to Circular No. 08/2013/TT-BTNMT of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Vietnam, procedures for issuance of application for issuance of certificate of biosafety are prescribed as follows:
Firstly, the Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) shall receive the application for issuance of certificate of biosafety, then assign one affiliated entity to act as standing assessment agency and organize processing, assessment of application, issuance, and revocation of certificate of biosafety.
Within 30 days from the date on which the Council produces assessment results, the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources shall consider and issue decisions on issuance of certificate of biosafety for registered genetically modified plants using form under Appendix 4 hereof. If the application is rejected, the VEA shall issue written notice and state reasons to the applicants.
Within 10 working days from the date on which certificate of biosafety is issued, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources is responsible for:
- publicizing on http://www.antoansinhhoc.vn
- adding genetically modified plants to the List of genetically modified plants issued with certificate of biosafety.
