Circular 03/2015/BTNMT: Requirements for Assessing Category 121 Reserves

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 03/2015/BTNMT regulating the exploration and classification of reserves, and the resources grades of primary gold minerals.

Requirements for Level 121 Resource Evaluation, 03/2015/BTNMT

According to the provisions in Circular 03/2015/BTNMT, resources are classified into three levels: level 111 resource, level 121 resource, and level 122 resource.

The requirements for level 121 resource evaluation are stipulated in this Circular as follows:

Firstly, geological evaluation level:

- Determination of the shape, size, position, morphological changes, and internal structure of primary gold ore bodies; detailed delineation of the boundary of interlayer rocks, barren lenses, or sub-standard ore and the presence of faults causing ore displacement;

- Identification of natural ore types, industrial ore grades with distinct characteristics regarding mineral composition, structure, texture, chemical composition, physical-mechanical properties, and ore technological properties;

- Determination of the material composition, physical-mechanical properties, and technological properties of different types of ore; appropriate processing and leaching diagram for gold recovery has been established, ensuring adequate reliable data for determining the ore processing technological diagram;

- Determination of hydrological geological conditions, engineering geological conditions, mining conditions, and other relevant natural factors evaluated in detail to ensure the provision of sufficient reliable data for the preparation of mineral exploitation investment projects and mine design;

- Reliability of the resource estimates is at least 80%.

Secondly, resource delineation boundaries:The boundaries of level 121 resources are delineated within the scope controlled by exploration and/or mining works.

Thirdly, evaluation of technological feasibility and economic efficiency:

- Selection of appropriate ore mining and processing technological solutions;

- Resource level is determined to be economically viable based on resource calculation criteria.

For more details, refer to Circular 03/2015/BTNMT which takes effect from April 1, 2015.
