On June 25, 2018, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 89/2018/ND-CP detailing the implementation of certain provisions of the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases concerning border health quarantine.

The Minister of Health has the authority to decide on health declarations and the termination of health declarations.

The cases requiring health declarations and the termination of health declarations are stipulated as follows:

Health Declarations:

- A decision to announce or notify of infectious disease outbreaks is made by a competent state agency;- Based on the situation of infectious diseases classified as group A, emerging diseases, outbreaks, or warnings of the risk of disease entry issued by competent health authorities from national or international agencies.

Termination of Health Declarations:

- A decision to announce or notify the end of infectious disease outbreaks is made by a competent state agency;- Based on the situation of infectious diseases classified as group A, or notification of the end of disease warnings by competent health authorities from national, territorial, or international organizations.

Decree 89/2018/ND-CP takes effect from August 10, 2018.
