According to the regulations on minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduating from intermediate, college levels in the drug testing techniques industry, issued attached to Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the college-level drug testing techniques field is a specialty that performs sampling; analyzes basic and common quality indicators of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products; analyzes specific indicators of drugs using methods such as: physical, chemical, biological, gravimetric, volumetric, spectrophotometric, chromatographic, etc., using specialized tools, equipment, machinery, and chemicals according to standards, processes, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency; aggregates and evaluates analysis results and manages testing activities in laboratories, meeting level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualification Framework.

The duties of a "Drug Testing Technician" include performing the tasks of a tester, managing testing tasks at drug-cosmetic testing centers, preventive medicine centers, pharmaceutical production and trading enterprises, pharmaceutical testing laboratories of training institutions, research units.

A person working in the "Drug Testing Technician" profession is frequently exposed to various analytical chemicals, fragile glassware, high precision requiring analysis machines and equipment, requiring careful and meticulous handling; frequently works with different machines, equipment, and working conditions in various pharmaceutical production and trading environments.

Minimum knowledge volume is noted as 2,500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits).
