Areas prohibited and temporarily prohibited from mineral exploration and extraction in Nghe An Province, Vietnam

On December 20, 2008, the People's Council of Nghe An province, Vietnam issued Resolution 245/2008/NQ-HDND approving the Planning for exploration, extraction, processing, and use of various minerals for the period 2009-2020.

Areas prohibited and temporarily prohibited from mineral exploration and extraction in Nghe An Province, Vietnam (Internet image)

Resolution 245/2008/NQ-HDND proposes environmental protection solutions during the exploration, extraction, processing, and usage of minerals for the period 2009-2020 as follows:

Areas Temporarily Prohibited from Mineral Activities:

- Total number of areas: 51;- Total area: 9,410ha, including areas temporarily prohibited related to military fields.

Areas Prohibited from Mineral Activities:

- Total number of areas: 239;

- Total area: 603,860ha. Of which:

-  Protective  forest:  129  areas  with  an  area  of  575,916ha;

-  Historical,  revolution,  and  archaeological  sites:  77  areas  with  an  area  of  19,934ha;

-  National  defense:  33  areas  with  an  area  of  8,010ha

- Details on the area and coordinates of prohibited and temporarily prohibited areas for mineral activities will be adjusted after approval from the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.
