On December 31, 2023, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 1757/QD-TTg approving the Planning of Dak Nong province for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050.
The overall goal is to reach 2030
Dak Nong has become a well-developed province of the Central Highlands; the infrastructure system is invested synchronously; it is an important gateway connecting trade between the Central Highlands and the Southeast region; National bauxite - alumina - aluminum industrial center; regional renewable energy; developing high-tech agriculture; linking the market value chain; developing resorts and ecological tourism; promoting the advantages of climate, natural landscape, unique culture, and the UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark. Sustainable development means harmony between economy and culture, society and environment, maintaining political stability, and ensuring national defense, security, social order, and safety.
Vision to 2050
Becoming a developed province of the Central Highlands; Synchronous and modern infrastructure. Sustainable and comprehensive development in economics, culture, society, the environment, and ensuring national defense and security; is the center of the country's aluminum and post-aluminum industry; high-tech, high-value agriculture; is the resort and ecological tourism center of the region. Become "Strong province - Rich people - Beautiful nature - Loving community".
Regarding urban system planning plans
Develop a harmonious urban system, consistent with the potential and advantages of each urban area, and effectively use land; Focus on urban development as the center of the province's main driving regions.
When all conditions and standards are met as prescribed, strive to have 10 urban areas by 2030, including: 01 class II urban area (Gia Nghia City), 01 class III urban area (Dak Mil Town), 02 class IV urban areas (Dak R'Lap Town, Cu Jut Town), striving to reach 04 class IV urban areas (Dak Mam, Duc An, Quang Khe, Dak Buk So) and 02 class V urban areas (Quang Son, Nam N'Jang).
