Application and conditions for issuance of train driving license in Vietnam

According to the Law on Railway Transport 2017 of Vietnam, the holder of train driving license must satisfy the following conditions:

- Man is from 23 to 55 years of age, woman is from 23 to 50 years of age; he/she must be physically fit for work;

- He/She must have a railway vehicle driving degree or a certificate issued by a training institution;

- He/She has worked as a co-driver according to regulations made by the Minister of Transport;

- He/She has passed the relevant railway vehicle operation test.

Dossier of application for testing and issuance of a new train driving license includes:

- An application for testing and issuance of a new train driving license (according to the form in Appendix IV of Circular No. 33/2018/TT-BGTVT);

- A written request for organization of testing and issuance of a new train driving license of the enterprise (according to the form in Appendix IV of Circular No. 33/2018/TT-BGTVT);

- Certificate of eligibility for driving health as prescribed by the Minister of Health;

- A certified true copy or a copy enclosed with the original for comparison purposes of a license or certificate of specialized training in railway vehicle driving suitable for the type of vehicle to be tested;

- 03 3x4 cm color photos taken within 06 months from the date of application submission.

Dossier of test for a train driver's license shall be archived at the Vietnam Railways Administration for a period of 10 years. The destruction of documents after the archival period has expired according to current regulations.
