Annual Inspection Requirements for Steel-Hulled Ships

Circular 15/2018/TT-BGTVT has been issued by the Ministry of Transport regarding the National Technical Regulation on Classification and Construction of Steel Hull Sea-Going Ships - Amendment 2: 2017, registration number: Amendment 2: 2017 QCVN 21:2015/BGTVT.

According to the new regulations, the annual inspection of steel-hull ships is based on the following requirements:

- It must be confirmed that the main engine, power transmission system, shaft system, engines that are not main engines, boilers, hot oil heaters, waste incinerators, pressure vessels, auxiliary machinery, piping systems, control systems, electrical equipment, and switchboards are all in good condition;- It must be confirmed that the engine room, boiler room, and escape means are in good condition in terms of fire and explosion prevention;- For ships with preventive maintenance systems, the entire system must be inspected, and each control parameter record of the system must be reviewed to confirm that the related systems have been well-maintained.- For ships with classification marks "APSS-O" or "APSS-W" that regularly conduct oil analysis or water sample testing, a general inspection of the shaft system and a review of all available condition monitoring data on board must be performed to ensure that the system is well-maintained.
