Announcement on the schedule for Lunar New Year holiday in Hanoi in 2025

The below contents are mentioned in Announcement 1202/TB-UBND of 2024 regarding Lunar New Year, National Day holiday, Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) in 2025 as issued by the City of Hanoi.

The People's Committee of the City announces as follows:

  1. Officials and public employees and workers of administrative, service-based offices, political organizations, and political-social organizations (hereafter referred to as officials and public employees) will have holidays during the Lunar New Year and other occasions in 2025, specifically:

- The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday will last for 9 consecutive days from Saturday, January 25, 2025, to the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (from the 26th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Dragon to the end of the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake).

- The National Day holiday in 2025 will span 4 days, from Saturday, August 30, 2025, to the end of Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

- The Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) holiday will last for 5 continuous days, from Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to the end of Sunday, May 4, 2025 (compensate work on Saturday, April 26, 2025), during which officials and public employees will swap their working day from Friday, May 2, 2025, to Saturday, April 26, 2025.

- Agencies and units not following a fixed Saturday and Sunday weekly holiday schedule will arrange suitable rest schedules based on their actual situations.

  1. For employees not included in the category in Section 1 of this Announcement, employers will decide on the Lunar New Year and other holidays (Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1) for employees based on actual conditions as per Section 7 of Announcement 6150/TB-LDTBXH dated December 3, 2024, from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; ensuring a continuous 5-day Lunar New Year holiday and a continuous 2-day National Day holiday in 2025.

- Notify the plan for Lunar New Year and National Day holidays to employees at least 30 days prior to implementation. If the weekly holiday coincides with a stipulated holiday, as per Section 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, employees will receive compensation for such holidays on the next working day as prescribed in Section 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

- Encourage employers to adopt Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) holidays for workers similar to those applied to officials and public employees.

  1. Other public holidays will be implemented according to the Labor Code.

  2. Directors and heads of departments and agencies of the City; Chairmen of district, ward, and district-level town People's Committees; Employers shall implement Announcement 6150/TB-LDTBXH dated December 3, 2024, from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

Employees in Vietnam have 22 days off in 2025

According to Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees have a total of 11 public holidays and are entitled to full pay.

1 day for New Year's Day (January 1); 5 days for Lunar New Year; 1 day for Victory Day (April 30); 1 day for International Labor Day (May 1); 2 days for National Day (September 2 and a day adjacent before or after); 1 day for Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month).

In 2025, aside from the 11 statutory public holidays, employees will have an additional 11 days of leave or consecutive days off due to weekly rest days falling on holidays, workday exchanges, totaling 22 days off. Among these, the longest holiday is the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, with a total of 9 days off...
