Regarding this issue, LawNet would like to answer as follows:
On March 8, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training issued Decision 764/QD-BGDDT regulating the exam structure of the High School Graduation Exam from 2025.
From 2025, the high school graduation exam for 2024 will hold 05 (five) exams, including:
- 03 (three) independent exams are Math, Literature, and Foreign Language (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean);
- 01 (one) Natural Science combined exam, including the exam subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology;
- 01 (one) combined exam of Social Sciences (abbreviated as Social Sciences) including the components of History, Geography, and Civic Education for candidates studying the general education program at the high school level or the History and Geography component exams for candidates studying the continuing education program at the high school level.

Accordingly, literature will be tested in the form of an essay with 120 minutes to complete. The exam consists of two parts: reading comprehension and writing.
The remaining subjects will be tested in a multiple-choice format, in which math has 90 minutes, and the remaining subjects have 50 minutes.

Note:
- Part I includes questions in a multiple choice format with 04 options, select 01 correct answer
- Part II includes questions in True/False multiple choice format. Each question has 4 ideas, for each question, candidates choose true or false.
- Part III includes questions in a short-answer, multiple-choice format. Candidates fill in the boxes corresponding to their answers.
Exams in the high school graduation exam as of 2025 will have the following scoring method applied:
(1) For the essay test:
- Part I - Reading comprehension: 04 points.
- Part II - Writing: 06 points.
- Total maximum score for the entire test: 10 points.
(2) For multiple-choice tests:
- Part I: For each correct answer, candidates receive 0.25 point.
- Part II:
+ Candidates who correctly select only 01 idea in 01 question receive 0.1 point;
+ Candidates who only correctly select 02 ideas in 01 question will receive 0.25 points;
+ Candidates who only correctly select 03 ideas in 01 question will receive 0.5 points;
+ Candidates who correctly select all 04 ideas in 01 question receive 1 point.
- Part III:
+ Math: For each correct answer, candidates receive 0.5 points.
+ Other subjects: For each correct answer, candidates receive 0.25 points.
- Total maximum score for the entire test: 10 points
Decision 764/QD-BGDDT takes effect on March 8, 2024.
