Analysis of Soil Samples in the Field: What Does It Include?

Circular 15/2018/TT-BTNMT has been promulgated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment regarding economic-technical norms for XRF analysis using handheld or mobile devices to determine the content of chemical elements in soil samples.

According to the provisions of Circular 15, the tasks when conducting soil sample analysis in the field include the following:

- Study the purpose, requirements of the project, technical procedures, determine the location, point, or line for rapid onsite analysis;- Inspect the operation of machinery and equipment before and after daily measurements, set analysis time;- Clean the position by removing debris such as leaves, grass, and excessively wet samples from the ones being analyzed. Choose the sample surface with small and uniform particle sizes for analysis;- Perform multiple measurements on one sample (minimum of 10 points);- Conduct repeated analyses, calibrate samples;- Move from one analysis position to another within the scope of work;- Transfer data from the measuring device to the computer; record sample numbers; process the measurement data, calculate the average value of each sample's results; prepare the analysis result sheet.
