Admission Criteria for Full-time University Programs in Teacher Training Majors

On February 28, 2018, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 06/2018/TT-BGDDT detailing the enrollment quotas for full-time university programs in teacher training disciplines.

To be specific, Circular 06 stipulates that educational institutions shall determine the regular university enrollment quotas according to the provisions of Circular 06, publicly announce them, and take responsibility for explaining the determined enrollment quotas, criteria for determining quotas, training quality, and commitment to output standards that meet societal needs.

- The annual regular university enrollment quota is determined by the total capacity for regular training according to capability, simultaneously meeting the prescribed criteria, subtracting the total number of current regular students at the institution, and adding the projected number of students expected to graduate in the enrollment year.

- Especially for training programs that have been recognized as meeting the quality accreditation standards of quality assurance organizations, with a resolution approving the determination of the enrollment quota of the board of trustees, the board of directors is allowed to autonomously determine the enrollment quota according to the quality commitment of the training program and societal needs for that program, but not exceeding 120% of the training quota of the preceding year; it must be publicly announced in the enrollment plan and accountable to society and competent authorities.

- If the educational institution has not been recognized as meeting the quality accreditation standards of quality assurance organizations, the enrollment quota shall not be increased compared to the preceding year (except for newly established training programs in the enrollment year).

- The enrollment quota for formal university transfer training is determined in accordance with legal regulations.

See details at Circular 06/2018/TT-BGDDT, effective from April 15, 2018.
