Adjustment of Long Phu commune to establish commune-level town Tra Long and Tan Phu commune

Recently, the Government of Vietnam has issued Decree 124/2006/ND-CP regarding the adjustment of administrative boundaries, the establishment of a commune, and a commune-level town within Vi Thanh district-level town, Long My district; renaming Tan Hiep district-level town to Nga Bay district-level town, Hau Giang province.

To be specific, Decree 124/2006/ND-CP stipulates the establishment of commune-level town Tra Long and Tan Phu commune, in Long My district, Hau Giang province as follows:

1. Establish the commune-level town Tra Long in Long My district based on the adjustment of 713.56 hectares of natural area and 4,571 inhabitants from Long Phu commune.

- Tra Long town has 713.56 hectares of natural area and 4,571 inhabitants;

- Administrative boundaries of Tra Long town: East borders with Phuong Phu commune, Phung Hiep district; West and North border with Tan Phu commune; South borders with Hung Phu commune, Soc Trang province.

2. Establish Tan Phu commune in Long My district based on the adjustment of 2,550.37 hectares of natural area and 9,060 inhabitants from Long Phu commune.

- Tan Phu commune has 2,550.37 hectares of natural area and 9,060 inhabitants;

- Administrative boundaries of Tan Phu commune: East borders with Phuong Phu commune, Phung Hiep district; West borders with Long Phu commune; South borders with Tra Long town; and North borders with Long Tri commune.

Therefore, after the adjustment, Long Phu commune will have a remaining 2,313.36 hectares of natural area and 9,881 inhabitants. Long My district will have 39,611.57 hectares of natural area and 159,677 inhabitants, comprising 12 administrative units including the communes: Long Tri, Tan Phu, Long Phu, Long Binh, Thuan Hoa, Thuan Hung, Xa Phien, Luong Tam, Vinh Thuan Dong, Vinh Vien and the commune-level towns: Long My, Tra Long.
