Additional regulations on professional ethical standards of teacher professional titles in Vietnam (Internet image) 

On April 14, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT amending Circulars 01/2021/TT-BGDDT, 02/2021/TT-BGDDT, 03/2021/TT-BGDDT, 04/2021/TT-BGDDT stipulates codes and standards for professional titles and appoints and ranks teaching staff in public preschool and general education institutions.

Thus, from May 30, 2023, the professional titles of teachers will be supplemented with the following professional ethical standards:

Standards of professional ethics for public preschool teachers in Vietnam

According to Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT, additional standards on professional ethics for public preschool teachers are as follows:

- Complying with the guidelines and policies of the Party, the laws of the State, the regulations of the sector and locality on preschool education.

- Regularly cultivating ethics, upholding the sense of responsibility, and preserving the quality, honor, and prestige of teachers; serving as a role model for children.

- Loving the profession, and loving children; knowing how to manage emotions; receiving fair treatment and respect for children; protecting children's legitimate rights and interests; uniting and helping colleagues.

- Strictly complying with regulations on general responsibilities and obligations of public employees and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on teacher ethics.

Standards of professional ethics for public elementary school teachers

According to Clause 1, Article 2 of Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT, standards of professional ethics for public primary school teachers are  as follows:

- Complying with the guidelines, lines, and policies of the Party, the laws of the State, the regulations of the branch and locality on primary education.

- Regularly cultivating ethics, upholding the sense of responsibility, and preserving the quality, honor, and prestige of teachers; serving as a role model for students.

- Love, fair treatment, and respect for students; protect the legitimate rights and interests of students; unite and help colleagues.

- Strictly complying with regulations on general responsibilities and obligations of public employees and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on teacher ethics.

Standards of professional ethics for public secondary school teachers in Vietnam

The standards of professional ethics for public secondary school teachers are supplemented by Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT as follows:

- Complying with the guidelines, lines and policies of the Party, the laws of the State, the regulations of the branch and locality on lower secondary education.

- Regularly cultivating ethics, upholding the sense of responsibility, and preserving the quality, honor, and prestige of teachers; serving as a role model for students.

- Love, fair treatment, and respect for students; protect the legitimate rights and interests of students; unite and help colleagues.

- Strictly complying with regulations on general responsibilities and obligations of public employees and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on teacher ethics.

Standards of professional ethics for public high school teachers in Vietnam

According to Clause 1, Article 4 of Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT, the standards of professional ethics for public high school teachers are as follows:

- Abiding by the guidelines and policies of the Party, the laws of the State, the regulations of the sector, and the locality on upper secondary education.

- Regularly cultivating ethics, upholding the sense of responsibility, and preserving the quality, honor, and prestige of teachers; serving as a role model for students.

- Love, fair treatment, and respect for students; protect the legitimate rights and interests of students; unite and help colleagues.

- Strictly complying with regulations on general responsibilities and obligations of public employees and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on teacher ethics.

Circular 08/2023/TT-BGDDT takes effect from May 30, 2023.
