Abolishing the Planning for Pharmaceutical Industry Development under the New Law

On June 15, 2018, the XIV National Assembly, 5th session passed the Law amending and supplementing certain articles of 11 Laws related to planning 2018.

abolish the requirements for the pharmaceutical industry development planning, including the following:

- Compliant with the provisions of this Law and other relevant laws;- In line with the country's socio-economic development strategy in each period; environmental protection and sustainable development;- Focused orientation, modernization, and specialization;- Scientific forecasting, meeting actual requirements and aligning with development trends and international integration.

For the planning of pharmaceutical material production, pharmaceutical herbal medicine, traditional medicine, the planning of pharmaceutical material sources for medicine production, and areas for pharmaceutical farming, abolish additional requirements such as:

- Rational exploitation and use of natural resources; suitable to soil conditions, climate, ecology, and natural and social conditions of each locality;- Orientation towards industrial-scale pharmaceutical material production and processing, pharmaceutical farming area development, gene conservation and development of valuable, rare, and endemic pharmaceutical species, based on enhancing investment in advanced technology combined with traditional experience.
