Education Law 2019 was promulgated with many noteworthy regulations, including several incentive policies for teachers effective from July 1, 2020.
In order to improve the material and spiritual life of educators and teachers, the Education Law 2019 has set forth the following regulations on remuneration policies:
- Educators will be classified with salaries appropriate to their employment positions and professional labor; they will have priority to receive specific occupational allowances as regulated by the Government of Vietnam.
- The State has policies on recruitment, utilization, and remuneration, ensuring the necessary material and spiritual conditions for educators to fulfill their roles and responsibilities.
- Educators working at specialized schools, gifted schools, boarding schools for ethnic minorities, semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities, pre-university schools, classes for people with disabilities, reformatory schools, or other specialized schools, and educators practicing inclusive education will receive allowances and preferential policies.
- The State has policies encouraging and favoring allowance policies and other policies for educators working in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions.
- For educators who meet the legal criteria, the State will confer the titles of People's Teacher and Meritorious Teacher.
Thus, in the near future, the Government of Vietnam will issue specific and detailed documents regarding the remuneration policies for educators as per the above-mentioned regulations. It is expected that this will improve the livelihood of teachers and allow them to focus peacefully on their teaching duties.
