7 Steps for Evaluating Land Quality and Provincial Land Potential for the First Time

On November 07, 2016, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 33/2016/TT-BTNMT on promulgation of economic - technical norm for land investigation and evaluation.

According to the provisions of Circular 33/2016/TT-BTNMT, the investigation and assessment of provincial soil quality and soil potential for the first time are carried out through the following 07 steps:

- Step 1. Collecting information, documents, data, maps- Step 2. Planning and investigating, sampling soil in the field- Step 3. Compiling and processing internal and external information- Step 4. Developing soil quality maps and land potential maps- Step 5. Analyzing and assessing the current state of soil quality and land potential- Step 6. Proposing solutions for soil protection, improvement, and sustainable land use orientation- Step 7. Developing a summary report and project completion report

Also according to Circular 33, in the seventh step, the following tasks must be performed:

- Creating appendices, and small-scale maps attached to the report.- Compiling a comprehensive report on the results of the soil quality and land potential assessment.- Duplicating documents and organizing workshops.- Finalizing investigation and assessment documents on soil quality and land potential.- Developing a summary report and project completion report.- Serving acceptance and handing over of results.
